Princess Anne is marking her 75th birthday in a new portrait by a renowned photographer she has turned to for decades.

On Aug. 14, Buckingham Palace released a new picture of the Princess Royal ahead of her 75th birthday on Friday, Aug. 15.

The photograph was captured last month at Gatcombe Park, Princess Anne’s private residence and equestrian estate in Gloucestershire.

The picture was taken by John Swannell, a celebrated photographer who is familiar with photographing Anne. He previously took the Princess Royal’s picture for her 40th birthday in 1990, 50th birthday in 2000, 60th birthday in 2010 and her 70th birthday in 2020.

Swannell’s latest portrait continues a longstanding relationship with the royal family, as he has captured photographs of many members through the years.

According to Swannell’s website, the late Princess Diana personally commissioned him to photograph her with her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, in 1994.

He was later asked to take Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh‘s picture for the stamp celebrating their wedding, took the Queen Mother‘s photograph for the stamp commemorating her 100th birthday and also took Queen Elizabeth‘s portrait for her Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee.

On Aug. 8, one week before the big day, Buckingham Palace unveiled a new tiara portrait of Anne with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence

The photo by Getty Images’ royal photographer Chris Jackson showed the Princess Royal and Sir Tim, 70, standing and smiling together in their finery before the French state banquet at Windsor Castle on July 9.

There, Princess Anne shimmered in the Festoon Tiara and wore the Royal Family Orders of her brother, King Charles, and their late mother, Queen Elizabeth.
