GLOBAL MARKETS

Stocks in Asia made an uneven recovery as higher-than-expected producer price inflation dampened expectations of a jumbo rate cut at the Federal Reserve’s September meeting, while U.S. bonds and equity futures stabilised.

ISRAELI SETTLEMENT PLAN

Turkey condemns Israel’s settlement plan aimed at dividing the West Bank and cutting it off from East Jerusalem, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, adding the decision was a total violation of international law.

MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY

Ozgur Ozel, chairman of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), will make a speech at a party rally in the central Turkish province of Kirsehir. (1630 GMT)

OPPOSITION MAYOR

A mayor from Turkey’s main opposition party joined President Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling AK Party on Thursday amid a crackdown on the opposition in which 15 mayors have been detained.
