The campgrounds at the largest lake within Pennsylvania have been reopened.

The US Army Corps of Engineers announced that the lake’s three campgrounds will reopen, “beginning with Susquehannock and Nancy’s Boat-to-Shore Campgrounds on Friday, Aug. 15, followed by Seven Points Campground on Friday, Sept. 5.”

“Raystown Lake is a paramount provider of outdoor recreation opportunities in Pennsylvania and our staff is prepared to assist visitors create lasting memories,” said Baltimore District Commander Col. Francis Pera in the announcement. The Baltimore District covers much of Pennsylvania as well as portions of several other states.

The closing of the campsites was a result of DOGE cuts to the Army Corps of Engineers, which led to “executive-order driven staffing shortages.”

In the announcement, the USACE stated they had “received final approval in early August to fill critical personnel shortages, enabling the reopening of previously closed facilities.”

Reservations for all campsites can be booked via the Recreation.gov website. Any reservations booked prior to the campground closures that were not canceled will be honored.

The campgrounds will observe normal seasonal closure dates, with the Susquehannock Campground closing for the season on Sept. 1, and Seven Points and Nancy’s Boat-to-Shore campgrounds closing on Oct. 27.
