The hottest night-time temperatures were recorded in the eastern Zlín Region, specifically at the Kateřinice, Ojičná measuring station. The lowest night temperature there was 23.9 °C. In total, meteorologists recorded tropical night temperatures at twenty measuring stations.
On Friday, the country will reach 37 °C in some places. “The influx of very warm air from the south will peak today, so afternoon temperatures will most often range from 32 to 36 °C, and in the lowlands of Bohemia it can be up to 37 °C,” the institute described on the X social network.
In the afternoon, a shower or thunderstorm may occur in western Bohemia due to increased cloud cover. Experts advise the public to keep their homes dark and cool during the daytime, and to drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol. People should also look out for others, especially the elderly, showing signs of heat-related illness (dizziness, fast breathing, excessive sweating, cramps), and must never leave children or animals in closed vehicles.
