WASHINGTON (TNND) — Ahead of Friday’s meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, both presidents have planned their entourages accordingly.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. E.T., or 11 a.m. in local Alaska time. Trump is scheduled to leave Alaska at 5:45 p.m. local time.
Originally scheduled as a one-on-one meeting between President Trump and President Putin, it is now scheduled to be a three-on-three meeting. Trump will be joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, according to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
For the expanded bilateral meeting, Rubio, Witkoff, Treasury Secretary Scott Besent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and chief of staff Susie Wiles will join.
On Trump’s team, members of his closest allies will assist the president as he looks to reach a deal for a potential ceasefire with Putin.
The president has repeatedly told reporters aboard Air Force One he wants to leave the bilateral meeting with a ceasefire in place for Ukraine. Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not invited to the meeting.
Putin is looking to establish and continue relations with the United States.
Regardless of who is in either circle, the entire meeting will come down to the presidents relying on translators.
Trump departed from Joint Base Andrews on Friday morning for Anchorage, Alaska. Trump and Putin will meet at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. After the leaders meet, they are expected to hold a joint press conference.
Trump said the meeting would be a “high-stakes” affair; on Thursday, the president said he would know within minutes if Putin were interested in working with the U.S.
