  1. I remember not getting it as a kid, then watching it in a college film class and ho boy did it hit different. Great film

  2. i truly wish i saw what everyone else did in this movie. it’s so beloved and it’s super influential, but i find it to be a massive drag.

and i love ghibli movies. i think spirited away and howl’s and even secret world are all 5/5.

  3. To me it’s still the pinnacle of animated filmmaking and beyond that I feel It’s one of the films ever made.

  4. Movie was meh. Animation was good and all but the story was basically rated R Japan furngully

  5. One of my favorite movies of all time. Every character is complex, great plot, and incredible animation that you don’t see very often nowadays.

  6. I’m very curious as to why half the comments really felt the movie was meh! No hate, I just feel like it was very quintessentially Ghibli. I thought it had a depth and beauty of message as rich as its animation quality. It’s quite serious and grand. What didn’t sit well with people?

  7. „Das Leben ist ein Leidensweg, hart und steinig. Auf dem Mensch und auf der Welt liegt ein Fluch, aber wir wollen trotzdem weiterleben.“

  8. I just rewatched it in the cinema. Great film! It took ages for the film to have a UK re-release but Joe hisaishi’s score sounded phenomenal in the IMAX I went to.

  9. first, and still only, movie I loved so much I paid to see it multiple times in theaters. Absolute banger soundtrack too, and a rare movie where the English dub is so good I actually prefer it to subtitles.
