  1. I agree my daughter was on 5 quid an hour at the start of her apprenticeship . I felt so sorry for her doing the work exactly the same as the other older staff for less money .

  2. Much more justifiable than free bus passes for a generation that have benefited massively from unprecedented increases in asset values

  3. I live in Palencia,Spain now, with the missus. We get a bus card each and each journey is 33c. It is greed, by a heavily subsidised industry.

I am from Edinburgh, lived there for nearly 35 years, as I’ve lived in other countries over the years about 5 years worth.

  4. Next year the government is meant to be scrapping ages based minimum wage differences so everyone over 18 is paid the same minimum wage.

If they do that then subsidising bus travel shouldn’t be nessessary.

  5. In Queensland, Australia, public transport costs 50c. Surprise, surprise, a lot of people use it and use it often which takes some pressure off the road network and people spend their money on other things that the government ultimately taxes anyway.

  6. Maybe get a job and move out of mummy’s house. Life’s not free . Suck it up princess.

  7. 50cents in Australia these days. Public transport is supposed to be profitable

  8. Remember seeing a video on YouTube that campaigns for better public transport and they were saying how some free travel has actually made things worse in some respects so think best would be minimal charges

  9. The UK government consistently try to penalise car ownership but offer no incentive for people to take alternative methods. I don’t want to pay a thousand pounds insurance in addition to a car on finance but when my only alternative is a bus that not only costs £8 return but starts service after 9 and last bus is just after 5 then what choice do we have?

  10. We should just have free public transport. Would save people money, people would be more likely to go into the office, have less cars on the road and reduce pollution.

  11. They eat mine too.

It is quite frankly absolutely insane that the government will throw free public trabsport at non-workers (teenagers, students, abd the retired) but will then just lump the cost onto working people who have no choice but to commute.

Public tranbsport should be free for all.
