I’m not actually going to try them as I don’t fancy the inevitable throne or A&E time. But definitely vine-curious.

Honest answer – I don’t know.
But the daft part of me would hae already eaten one to find out. Surely a grape can’t do you in……can it?
Edible? Yes
Whether you’ll be able to eat more than one because they suck all the moisture out of your mouth and inevitably taste like shit? Maybe not.
Such is the life of a grape grower.
worked in a vineyard a while back. That is what they call ‘second set’, so grapes that develop much later after fruit set, when the riper berries first develop. Edible but very unripe.
So even if someone such as I was categorically tell you these are edible grapes, it makes no different to your decision other than it being the incorrect one?
Try one and find out. Whatever happened to curiosity?
Everything is edible once, sometimes the taste is a once in a lifetime experience
They certainly look like grapes. Doesn’t mean they will taste nice though as they might not be fully ripe.
My parents have a grape vine across the front of their house and you could count on one hand the number of ripe grapes they’ve actually eaten from it as the birds always eat the fruit before it is fully ripe.
They’ll be absolutely full of seeds.
EAT THEM YOU COWARD
You tell us.
Looks like it but beware they might have seeds in! They’re not bad at all you just need to spit them out, but it’s very jarring when you’re used to seedless grapes from the supermarket lol
Our entire pergola is covered in grape vines and there is a reason we do not eat them despite them technically being edible!
Poisonous
Edible? Yes. Enjoyable? YMMV.
We don’t get enough direct hours of sunshine in the UK for grapes to be as sweet as in other hotter countries. But obviously that was before the last few years.
If they are in a sunny spot they could be quite nice. But I would imagine they’ll be quite bitter compared to what you are used to from the supermarket.

Bro is growing DRC pinot clones
I would. They look nice
Everything is edible once!!
Boil them up with water, sugar and pectin. Give them a good mashing. Filter the seeds out and you get a great jam.
We have European Vine around the back of our house, which this looks very similar to.
Not much of a yield, but by far the most delicious jam.
Grapes grow fairly well round me, we have some on our garden as do several neighbours and there’s a small vineyard directly behind us (albeit not a very good one), but there are a number of excellent award winning vineyards within 10 miles of me, and many, many more along around the southern counties making excellent wine. And there’s vineyard’s making good wine up to Yorkshire and possibly beyond. Trouble is a lot of the vines planted in gardens were the more hardy varieties that weren’t as nice, but these days, and especially in hot years like this one, they ripen extremely well. It won’t kill you, nor will it give you the shits. Try one that isn’t hard and has good colour and see if it’s sweet enough to eat.
They certainly won’t make you sick but they’re not ripe so will make your mouth drier than the Sahara. I had a grape vine in my old house you have to prune it and look after it a certain way for the grapes to be really edible along with good weather.
Where is that?
Can an average sized male dog reach them easily? If no it’s edible, if yes stay clear.
I’d say they are grapes. For reference, these are grapes currently growing in my garden in the Midlands, which are not ripe yet. I’m not keen on grapes myself but I am told by others who have tasted previous harvests that they are very edible indeed!

You absolutely can grow decent grapes in the UK.
You say ‘growing from over the wall’, so is the plant in a neighbour’s property? If so, taking the grapes is theft. Likewise, you can trim back bushes or trees that grow over the wall, but must return the cuttings to the neighbour.
Couple of ways to find out.
1. Try it
2. Finally acknowledge you do have a least favourite child.
I’ve told you before, keep your dirty hands off my grapes…
Got any Lemonade? Bum bum ba da da dum bum.
When eating your neighbours grapes it is best to roll them around on your tongue to get them nice and plump
When we moved into our house there was a really productive red grape vine growing up a pergola; I spent most of my gardening time cutting that fucker back so neighbours four houses down wouldn’t become engulfed. The grapes were either delicious or revolting, nothing in between, often from the same bunch. I stopped eating them after trying them on and off over a few years of different summer weather, considered getting into wine making, finally decided to take it down when the pergola and deck began to rot. Their best use was feeding the blackbirds and attracting wasps. In conclusion, you won’t die, but you might regret your choices.
