  1. LoL, I can imagine the Greek journalist’s annoyance at writing Roma instead of Gipsy

  2. That’s just the revenge for all the elderly driving into things (including children)

  3. Also, falsehoods in the headline from Barry: you have to actually go to school to be a schoolkid.

  4. In Portugal the news also bend over backwards not to mention it, typicaly they say “a family” which is code for it (who else routinely does theft, murders, public fights, and vandalism while hanging out with 3 or 4 generations of close relatives), but apparently wouldn’t work here.

  5. I read the news the other on an austrian newsoutlet and i knew it was G who did it.

They didnt mention it in the paper tho

  6. It‘s not an important distinction. Kids are stupid and sometimes steal cars. There‘s tons of headlines.

It‘s not because they‘re gypsies, so it‘s not important for that case.

It would be different, if she had been stabbed to death by a dude screaming Allahu Ackbar.

  7. Right article could have a better headline, because it makes it sound like the lady stole the car

  8. and the anglos/guns still find it weird that most of southern europe really dislikes roma.

It’s actually worse than any stereotype about lets say (using as an example) black people, at least you still have many good examples and loved individuals as representatives that break any kind of stereotype, member being heros, and so on, more than you can even keep track and yet, (and i don’t care if people finds this offensive) i still have to see a good example from gypsies, i can barely think of maybe a band like Gipsy Kings, maybe there’s an individual here and there but there’s not a single Neil deGrasse Tyson, or Mandela, or whatever from the gypsy community that i can think of…

Being a small community isnt a excuse, i don’t know any notable person from the Amish but everyone knows about them being somewhat respectful and peaceful

Really, lets be plain: those who live nearby only had either neutral or bad experiences, and those who hear news always hear something negative, never a single good news and those who seem to defend them or think people are just being mean and racist don’t seem to live in a place that would create any interaction between them…

the only times i see gypsies/roma portrayed in a positive manner is in fiction.

  9. Fucking French tourists! Can’t they better protect their car?

  10. Fucking hell the Telegraph! Turn the page over and the racism will be there

  11. Salvini would sell his own mother if he could get a mention in the headlines.

  12. /r/fuckcars here, the fact that both say that she was killed by a car instead of being killed by kids is the real egregious part

  13. I never understood how mentioning the race of a minority is supposed to be negative on news outlets. Sure it does get weaponised for rascism, but so do percentages of crime rates.

    They’re still real though?

Are we supposed to close our eyes and treat everyone equally when it’s clear there’s a major problem with how certain groups are accepted into society? If a Greek Roma kid is a Greek citizen, then why not take him away from his abusive parents if they don’t let him attend school to work. Doing meaningful actions against this mess is better than allowing far right nationalists to capitalize off of real crime statistics.
