  1. Coal has plenty of uses the only thing killing it is the societal belief that it is bad for the environment, there is no other reason than that.

    The same thing happened to CFCs and what did we find out? That there never was an “Ozone Hole” per se, that the thing opens and closes annually. The world lost a low cost refrigerant and excellent fire retardant over faulty science and hysteria.

    We are now on track to lose a useful resource, coal. It may not have the highest energy yield as other materials do but it is still useful for energy production and other uses.

  2. It’s dirty, it’s more expensive and it takes longer to build. What’s not to love?

  3. True coal sales are in decline in the western world but only because governments banded the use of coal. So decline in coal sales technically is not market driven. More like government policies driven. It would be like saying there is a decline in fossil fuel sales when the government mandates you can only buy EV cars.
