  1. > In a post on his personal blog about Britain’s international standing, Anderton said that in a future world of “meritocracy”, the UK could “regain” former colonies such as Australia, Canada and South Africa.

    > He added that the UK should copy the policy of mass incarceration carried out by El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, widely condemned as an abuse of human rights.

Some people dream of a better world, but this guy chooses not to.

  2. That guy looks like he’s about 12. Not sure why we would expect grown up politics from him …

  3. Actually, this is true. UK would be better off. We lost our empire, we went into debt that took till 2000 to pay off, we destroyed our future growth.

We went into that war knowing even if we won, we lost long term.

The world as we know it would be different to maybe a communist Europe, who knows.

Anyway, it was still the right decision.

  4. It’s estimated around 45tn dollars in today’s value was extracted from India alone through British occupation. Where did the money go? I guess to people like him.

  5. When someone tells you who they are, you should listen

  6. These plebs claim to love Britain and be the most patriotic people in the country.

  7. This is a kid who consulted with Farage to get his Tiktok numbers up. That’s it. Why the fuck should his misguided ramblings be national news?

  8. Bro thinks he’s managing to hide that hairline, but it’s there plain as day. Fuck me you could fit six KSI foreheads in there

  9. I mean we would be better off. It bankrupted us. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have but the point still stands.

  10. How the hell would get an under age dude to be adviser lol

  11. If we had not then the world in general would not have been better off.Maybe learn some history, before opening your mouth.

  12. A child talking nonsense. The problem is that the morons of Reform listen to him.

  13. Well arguably yes…

It’s fairly well known that Hitler wasn’t actually interested in the British Isles and would have preferred to negotiate with the UK.

However, hindsight is 20:20. We could not know that was his intention, especially as Hitler essentially kept saying he wouldn’t do “x” only to the proceeding in doing it.

The UK as a whole demanded that we took a stand. Our allies were getting attacked and taking on Germany was the right thing to do.

If we hadn’t, the UK *might* have continued to have an Empire. The UK definitely wouldn’t be essentially bankrupt requiring the population to continue using ration books 9 years after the end of WW2. However, what shape would the world even be in? I have no idea, but I don’t think it would be a nice place.

This is technically yes, with a side of you would have to be crazy to want it.

  14. Argentina/Ireland/Switzerland became vastly richer by staying out of the war

  15. Yeah it would have been; we lost everything fighting that war. It was worth it, in my view, but that doesn’t change the fact that we would be better off if we never had to do that.

  16. Maybe he’s right. Millions of our British wouldn’t have died fighting. Tens of thousands of civilians wouldn’t have died in the bombing. However, he might never have been born in the very different future that ensued. I wonder if he considered that.

  17. Define better off. Yes probably financially, empire etc but morally – nope. And we didn’t have much choice, i don’t know if this fella knows but they bombed the fuck out of the UK so it wasn’t like we could just go yeah not fighting.

  18. > Campbell’s office referred the matter to Reform UK, who said Anderton was not employed by either the party or the mayor.

    Standard guardian.
