I wonder how long it will be before the racist pricks pipe up?
Definitely getting better with phone snatchers, probably got the number one spot across the globe for that.
The problem with “official statistics” is that it’s increasingly pointless to report crimes to the Met.
The only reason is to get an crime number for insurance.
Even for things like violent robbery or property damage they aren’t interested.

Hilarious. Any chance this joker gets it’s about him and that’s all he gives a shit about.
Love London. Love England. Love that I get both. Simple as.
I dont think these articles help the debate, while there is obviously bad faith commentary, its also true that a lot of people’s experience of non-violent crime/disorder has got materially worse and flat out denying that is counterproductive.
In the last 6 years Ive been burgled, had my phone snatched, and been subject to an attempted bike jacking. Each of those incidents left me feeling violated and scared and in each case the police have done nothing more than take a statement and give me a crime reference number.
The official statistics on violent crime dont reflect any of these incidents. And they dont reflect the increasing sense of social disorder as a result of low level crime (shop lifting, fare evasion, harassment) and just general social disorder which is what people are really talking about when they make these points.
How about London’s tax revenues stop subsidising the towns and villages of the Little Englanders, and we see how quickly they have to adapt to the modern world in order to survive?
“London is the greatest city in the world”
I immediately stopped reading after that part. If an article starts with hyperbole like this, it’s not going to give a balanced view of anything.
It’s a cool city, sure. But is it the best city in the world? Probably not.
Edit: lmao I didn’t even realise it was written by Sadiq Kahn. I have nothing against Sadiq Kahn but the article is worthless if it’s written by him. I don’t need to know the London Mayor’s opinion on his own city. It’s obviously going to be glazing it.
Who nicks phones and lives in council estates
These comments are why I miss London so much
Its a city that ive had the privilege to grow up in, my daughters have the same, home. Would want to live in no other place should I have the choice.
