I’ve seen some of those comments, it’s honestly worse for those who actually believe it
Joe Rogan also repeats the claims on his podcast
I have had two operations this year on my arm to remove “abnormal growths”. If you have skin marks that are uneven, multi colored please get them seen to. It is very treatable if you go early.
If you are going to take advice from tiktok about not wearing sunscreen, then you deserve skin cancer.
Some people are fucking dopes.
Education in Ireland around sunscreen could generally do with improvement. My parents never put it on me growing up unless we were going to the beach and a lot of people have a similar attitude about it today whereas you should be wearing it by default during the summer months.
Darwin is going to run out of awards someday soon
Its really odd. Theres a divergence where some portion of online people have started making sure they wear SPF moisturiser to protect the collagen in their face amd others have completely avoided it over misinformation
“… but trust me on the sunscreen”.
As usual the truth is somewhere in-between,and some sunscreens contain corcinogens, this is how conspiracies start followed by denials from other groups.
So you think you’re tougher than the Sun?

I don’t wear sunscreen unless the sun is bating down. But my kids have it on most days in the summer.
In general, people with light skin should avoid the sun in the mediterranean but all i see here are people with future melanoma walking around all pink and burned
But it’s only idiots that believe that stuff.
Wear spf everyday even in December lads 🌞 💗
I dunno lads Johnson and Johnson sued for billions over arsenic in baby powder( they knew about it)
A study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that only about 25% of sunscreens on the market are both safe and effective. The study evaluated over 2,200 SPF products and found that many contain ingredients of concern or don’t offer the advertised level of protection.
Key Findings:
Efficacy Concerns:
The EWG found that many sunscreens don’t live up to their SPF claims. For example, one study showed that the average sunscreen reduced UV exposure by only half of what was expected based on its SPF.
Safety Concerns:
The EWG raises concerns about certain chemical ingredients in sunscreens, some of which have been linked to health risks in animal studies.
Regulatory Issues:
The study also points to potential shortcomings in the FDA’s sunscreen regulations, highlighting the lack of finalized aerosol testing requirements for spray sunscreens and the slow pace of new ingredient approvals.
Misleading Marketing:
The EWG report criticizes deceptive marketing practices by sunscreen companies, including misleading claims about protection and outdated formulas, according to a report from USA Today.
What the FDA Says:
The FDA has only classified two sunscreen ingredients, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, as safe and effective.
They have also allowed other ingredients for use, but have requested more safety data from manufacturers, which has not been provided.
Recommendations:
Consumers are encouraged to consult the EWG’s annual sunscreen guide for a list of safer and more effective products.
Look for sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients, as these are generally considered safe and effective.
Be wary of sunscreens with potentially harmful ingredients or misleading claims.
Consider using other sun-protective measures, such as wearing protective clothing and seeking shade during peak sun hours.
Fairly comprehensive.
The best way to protect from the sun is light clothes or limit time in it. Enjoy the weather
My 18 year old sister told me not to wear factor 50 because it “gives people burns” and that factor 30 is better. When I asked where she saw that she said tik tok
I wear it daily built into skincare or will directly apply if gonna be in more light than usual. My mum complains I’m too pale and shouldn’t put it on on hot days and try tan. (I have no vit d issues and she’s coming from an aesthetic point. Im happily naturally milky ghost coloured) The polar opposite ideals from different gens is crazy, and not just about sun cream is technically itself bad, we have a weird obsession here with tryna be a different than our natural colour
I’m nearly 50 and have solar keratosis on my hands and ears from sun exposure. I’ll be getting them removed to reduce cancer risk. It would be far easier to have worn sunscreen as part of every day instead of only when I was doing outdoor stuff.
Australian here. I generally hate the oily skin feel and smell of sunscreen, but the culture here has embraced it as part of their lives since, you know, we get lots of skin cancers here.
I tend to stay in the shade, and if I must go into full sunlight for any amount of time (eg mowing or doing garden work) I wear a broad rimmed hat and a long-sleeved work shirt that covers my forearms. The latter can be found in many Australian “work” stores in various reflective colours (so long as the colours are yellow or orange).
Do people really have to question every poxy thing these days? Jesus
I had a colleague tell me that factor 50 isn’t more effective than factor 30, it just has “more chemicals”. I’m a red head with translucent skin, I’m not giving up the factor 50 bc of what someone saw on Facebook.
The internet has given the idiots of society a voice. Anti vaxers, those who don’t understand climate change, the anti EV brigade, flat earthers, they are all a bunch of idiots.
Social media is one of the worst things to happen to modern society. It’s dividing humanity faster than anything else. From so called self made experts who peddle crackpot health advice with no medical research to political nutjob podcasters/influencers that spread hate and division.
It’s expensive for what it is, but Laroche Posay Factor 50 is the one I use pretty much every day on my face and use a more generic Boots factor 50 on my arms
Darwinism at its finest let it carry, stupid will carry its course no great loss
I’m sure there are chemicals in sunscreen that could potentially be harmful if you’re allergic, or you use in far too much quantities.
However the risk of *that* against the risk of skin cancer makes it well worth it.
The most common cancer in Ireland is skincare with over 11,000 new cases diagnosed every year.
I hate putting it on but it’s so important.
🤣🤣 if people saw those who had a tinchy tiny bit of skin cancer on their face and had to have it DUG out then have their entire face burnt off by chemotherapy cream never to being allowed in direct sun again, they wouldn’t hesitate sticking on a bit of cream… 🧢🧴🥵😎
