Pippa Middleton’s Hair Transformation Has Heads Turning

The Middleton sisters have dream hair. While Pippa Middleton’s luscious locks might not be as famous as those of her sister, Catherine, Princess of Wales, the younger sister still has enviable tresses. Pippa has undergone her own hair evolution throughout her many years in the spotlight, changing things up at different periods of her life, with each style proving influential. 

Pippa was launched onto the world stage the day of her sister’s wedding to Prince William, on April 29, 2011. Global fascination around the young, beautiful sister spiked quickly, and Pippa has remained in the spotlight ever since. Everything from her beauty routine to fashion style, and especially her hair, has been inspirational. In fact, some of Pippa’s outfits caused a stir for all the right reasons.

Kate Middleton’s stunning hair transformation has been mirrored by Pippa’s. And most recently, Pippa’s fresh 2025 bob haircut proved that women in their 40s should go for the chop. The chic style seems to be one she’s going to stick with for a while.

It was a simpler time for Pippa Middleton back in the 2000s. She and her sister kept things chill and much more toned down from the polished elegance we’re used to seeing from them today. Pippa wore her hair straight, in simple, unfussy styles, and kept it relatively long, past her shoulders. In the late ’00s, Pippa went out for a night on the town, giving a perfect example of her carefree hair style before her sister got engaged to Prince William. It’s also clear Pippa loved the same heavy eyeliner her sister wore, one of Kate Middleton’s biggest makeup mistakes of all time. Thankfully, they’ve both ditched it in favor of softer eye makeup. 

The royal wedding changed everything for the Middleton family, but most of all for Pippa Middleton, who was Kate’s maid of honor. Pippa wore her hair pulled back away from her face, making her look youthful and fresh. The romantic hair look was styled half up, and had small, white flowers in the back as decoration. Her hair was slightly side parted, giving it an elegant finish. The ends of her hair were also curled and styled, giving the simple hairstyle a polished pop. 

Pippa Middleton married James Matthews on May 20, 2017, and her wedding style marked a big moment in her hair transformation. Pippa wore her hair in a romantic bridal updo, a dramatic departure from her typical love of wearing her long hair down. The elegant style sparked all kinds of hair tutorials for brides-to-be. 

Mathew Soobroy, of Charles Worthington salon, told Express that those who wanted to replicate Pippa’s hair should first set their hair with rollers. Next, part the hair on the side and pull one section into a low ponytail. Tease the roots of the hair and roll sections of the ponytail up, securing with bobby pins to create a loosely gathered bun. Pull the top and side of the hair into the bun, and finish with a decorative hair piece. 

Pippa Middleton’s hair next evolved to include the side braid as a way to upgrade her ponytail. It was clearly a favorite of Pippa’s because she sported the hairstyle on numerous occasions. In July 2018, she attended Wimbledon and opted for two small French braids that started at her temples and wove into her ponytail. A year later, Pippa sported a more elaborate braid at Wimbledon. This time, it wrapped around the top of her head, and was much thicker than the one from the previous year. 

Pippa Middleton sported milkmaid braids at an event in February 2019, showcasing a style that’s an easy alternative to the ponytail. Pippa wore the small braids wrapped from the front of her head, ending in a small bun at the nape of her neck. She wore a long, elaborate gown by Temperley with black detailing, which suited Pippa’s hairstyle perfectly. What was so surprising about Pippa’s hair was how relaxed it was; she sported loose wisps of undone hair around the braids, adding that extra element of casual chic. 

Pippa Middleton looked extra glamorous at the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. She arrived at Westminster Abbey in a buttery yellow coat dress with a dramatic fascinator. Her hair, however, completely stole the show. Pippa wore it in a low, complex updo with sweeping tresses gracefully secured into place. Her hairstyle was vastly more complex and sophisticated than she typically wears it, and it suited the magnitude of the occasion quite well. 

Pippa Middleton showed off a shorter haircut at an event in December 2024, and the new, shoulder-length style looked fresh and flattering on her. She wore it loosely curled, with the color of her hair definitely darker than her summer hair earlier in the year. Pippa completed the look with a long, black midi dress.

Later, in July 2025, Pippa attended the British Grand Prix, showcasing a new version of this cut with the long bob, perfect for dipping your toe into short hair. She wore her hair straight, a callback to her earlier days of relaxed styling, and parted it down the middle, pulling it away from her face by tucking her hair behind her ears. It was a whole new look for Pippa, and one that suited her perfectly.
