From Fairy Tale to Financial Freefall: Andrew & Fergie’s Life of Excess..
5 continues their look at the world of disgraced Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Fergie in another documentary this evening following on from the channel’s recent look at Andrew’s finances in January and last month a peek into their posh ‘Dallas style’ former pad.
Once billed as the golden couple of the royal family, Prince Andrew and Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson have spent decades making as many headlines for their money woes as they did for their whirlwind romance.
Tonight, in a new 5 documentary, Fergie & Andrew: The Duke & Duchess of Excess, lifts the lid on the Yorks’ turbulent finances – from sprawling mansions and champagne lifestyles to the spiralling debts that have dogged them for years.

The programme delves into Andrew’s murky money trail, with questions over how he continues to bankroll his lavish life at Royal Lodge – the 30-room Windsor estate he still calls home – as well as his controversial ties to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. His business project Pitch@Palace also comes under the microscope, with insiders asking whether the Duke’s ventures were ever quite what they seemed.
Fergie, meanwhile, has had her own dizzying financial rollercoaster. At one point she was pocketing millions as the global face of Weight Watchers, but just as quickly she racked up debts, bankruptcies and endless tabloid headlines about her spending.

With new revelations from a tell-all book, the documentary revisits the couple’s knack for attracting both fortune and fiasco – often in equal measure. Biographers, royal experts and insiders weigh in, painting a picture of a duo who once embodied royal glamour but are now synonymous with scandal.
For all their drama, the pair remain oddly inseparable. Long divorced but still living under the same roof, Andrew and Fergie’s unconventional arrangement continues to raise eyebrows. As one commentator in the film puts it: “They lived larger than life. Now they’re living with the consequences.”
Fergie & Andrew: The Duke & Duchess of Excess airs tonight at 9.10pm on 5
