Prince William and Kate Middleton have decided to take an important step towards a new chapter in their lives. After years of personal and family challenges, the royal couple will move to Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom mansion located in Windsor Great Park, west of London.

Thus, the Princes of Wales, along with their children George (12 years old), Charlotte (10), and Louis (7), will be leaving Adelaide Cottage, located on the extensive grounds of Windsor Castle, one of the most famous in the British royal family and which was the residence of Queen Elizabeth II.

A decision marked by health and family

The announcement of the move comes after a particularly difficult period for the Wales family. In March 2024, Kate Middleton faced a cancer diagnosis that shocked the royal family and the world. Fortunately, the Princess of Wales has been in remission since earlier this year, but the experience left a deep mark on the couple.

“‘Moving gives them the opportunity for a fresh start, to leave behind some painful memories and to focus on family,’ revealed a source close to the Daily Mail. William and Kate’s priority is clear: to provide a home filled with stability, love, and normalcy for their children, away from the media spotlight and constant scrutiny that comes with royalty in London.”

Forest Lodge, the new family residence located in a royal park spanning 2,000 hectares, is estimated to be worth 21 million dollars and is being prepared for the move, with renovations that include new floors, ceilings, and windows. The relocation and improvements will be carried out without resorting to public funds, demonstrating that this decision is entirely personal and focused on the family’s well-being.

Moving away from the past and building a better future

The last years at Adelaide Cottage, where they resided since 2022 to be close to their children’s school, were marked by great challenges: the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the coronation of King Charles III, and Kate’s delicate medical treatment. Despite the happy memories, the couple is now looking for a home that represents hope and tranquility for their little ones.

“Windsor has become their home. However, during the past years at Adelaide Cottage, they went through some really difficult times,” said a royal source to NBC News.

The move to Forest Lodge, further west of Windsor Castle and closer to the famous Ascot Racecourse, “gives them the opportunity to start fresh and open a new chapter, the chance to leave behind some of the saddest memories. This is a long-term move. They see it as their forever home,” the same source told NBC News.

The move to Forest Lodge not only symbolizes a change of residence, but an emotional rebirth: leaving behind moments of pain, embracing regained health, and focusing all their energies on providing their children with the childhood they deserve, with space to grow, play, and be happy away from the noise of the royal family world.
