Diesel prices spiked briefly in Europe after Brussels voted to sever supplies from two of the region’s biggest overseas fuel suppliers. Benchmark ICE low-sulfur gasoil futures struck a nearly one-year high of almost $800 per metric ton last month after the EU voted to ban “backdoor” imports of fuels made from Russian crude. But prices soon plummeted and were languishing at a two-month low of $650/ton ahead of US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
