Worried I may have accidentally misused the text line based on the automatic reply. No crime was committed exactly, but the guy was clearly unwell and going through some kind of episode. It was also quite uncomfortable to sit and watch and I moved carriage as he was shouting, biting at the air, screaming etc. Hopefully I’ve not done anything wrong!

  1. The announcements say “if you see anything suspicious” then report it to 61016. You saw something suspicious, you reported it. Seems fine to me

  2. Absolutely. It’s now up the BTP to decide on next best action. But you did your part

  3. Yes, you’ve done the right thing. I’d have done exactly the same thing if I’d been there.

  4. You saw it, you said it, it probably won’t get sorted, but at least you tried.

  5. Good stuff 👍🏼

Only next time say which direction you’re travelling.

  6. Seems reasonable to me – it’s not an immediate 999 emergency, but could well develop / have developed in to an incident of some sort, so yes, reporting either to BTP or Underground staff (which is easier in theory than in practice at platform level) seems fair enough.

  7. You weren’t reporting a crime, it wasn’t an emergency, you chose the right option.

  8. Without trying to sound like a prick you didn’t need the last bit. I’m sure they know how to do their jobs and may perceive your instruction on what to do as patronising.

  9. If anything it seems like from that description you would have been better off calling 999 as he might have needed medical help, but it’s definitely not wasting anyone’s time or anything like that.
