I used to swim from the quay as a teenager. I was never brave enough to jump from anywhere but normal quay height, but I had friends who would jump from the light on the top. It’s also where I came closest to drowning by getting caught round the back of the quay as the tide came in and started battering me into it. There are always adults watching you from somewhere if you’re a kid in Clovelly, they’ll have been supervised.
Its called Tombstoning, because regularly every year people get themselves a tombstone.
You’re right not to do it, there are safer places to launch yourself into the sea.
That looks rather dangerous.
Wonder if they pre-booked the lifeboat and ambulance?
My fear of hard surfaces hidden under the water would prevent me from even attempting something like that
This makes me cringe so bad. I got pushed off a boat form a height maybe half of that? Landed badly on my thigh and got an absolutely [massive bruise](https://www.reddit.com/r/medical/s/amUQVlunzG). Enormous amount of swelling and pain that didn’t go away for months.

Nope!
No way, too dangerous
*stupid enough
Crazy
And cold….🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Did this at Blue lagoon in Wales, think the spot was about 11m tall?
Landed bad, turned part of my spine into a wedge. That was a fun recovery year!

Water is not a soft landing.
