European leaders confirm they’ll be joining Ukraine’s Vladimir Zalinski at the White House on Monday. Germany, Finland, France, Italy, and the UK determined to prove that they have a seat at the table when it comes to ending the war in Ukraine. They will be accompanied by the NATO and EU chiefs. The EU Commission president said she was going at the request of Ukraine’s leader. That came as leaders prepared for a video conference meeting of the coalition of the willing, a group of countries supporting Ukraine. And it’s very important that you are with us and that we speak to America and we speak together. And it’s important that Washington is with us. Our position is clear. International borders cannot be changed by force. These are decisions to be made by Ukraine and Ukraine alone. And these decisions cannot be taken without Ukraine at the table. This after reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin demands Ukraine surrenders the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk provinces. Monday’s meeting comes just days after a high stakes but ultimately fruitless summit between US President Donald Trump and Putin where Zilinsky and the European leaders were notably absent. Three-hour talks concluded with no ceasefire. You’re gambling with lives. For Zilinski, Monday will be the first time stepping back into the Oval Office after a fiery clash with Trump and US Vice President JD Vance. Very disrespectful to the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said it was up to Russia to end its invasion, ahead of high-stakes talks on Monday with US counterpart Donald Trump, who is pressuring Ukraine to give up Crimea and abandon its NATO ambitions. The comments came hours before Zelensky and European leaders were scheduled to meet Trump in Washington, a follow-up to a summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska on Friday that failed to produce a ceasefire.   16. In Alaska, Trump found reality: he is now embracing an agreement without demanding a ceasefire first, which would have never worked anyway. What Trump has done is align himself with reality.

    Russia was clear from the very start of negotiations that they would not agree to an unconditional ceasefire. Indeed it would have been completely illogical for them to do so, given that military pressure on Ukraine, and advances on the battlefield, are by far the most important leverage that Russia can bring to bear at the negotiating table.

    The refusal to recognize this on the part of Western analysts and European governments betrays either an inability to understand obvious realities or a desire that the war should continue indefinitely, in the hope that Russia will eventually accede to present Ukrainian conditions for peace. That would make sense if Ukrainian conditions were realistic and if developments on the battlefield were in Ukraine’s favor. But some of Ukraine’s demands are completely unacceptable to Russia and Ukraine and the West have no way of compelling Russia’s agreement, since it is the Russian army that is advancing on the ground and the West cannot provide soldiers to supplement Ukraine’s increasingly outnumbered and depleted forces.

  24. The fact that EU has like 15 times more money then russia, means that they can beat russia, but they needs USA for weapons and surveillance ! And they can easily buy them from US ! This time, trump is giving everything that putin wants and that is scary path to go, because China will be even closer with russia if putin gets what he wants… I think trump is making one of the biggest mistakes in US history !
