  1. Happens every year. Crib Goch is regularly underestimated because Yr Wyddfa has a reputation of being an easy mountain to climb.

It’s a route that only experienced climbers with a head for heights and a sensible weather window should attempt, but that never stops some.

  2. Sad news. Crib Goch is scary. I won’t be rushing back to do it again!

  3. My brother and I were going to climb Snowdon tomorrow but I think we’ll go for a run around Lake Yrnywy instead! Rip.

  4. I was going up Yr Wyddfa a few years ago and met a confused German couple where the path splits to go up Crib Goch. They asked for directions. I pointed them the right way. It was a very windy day. Luckily for them I was there at the right time.

I wouldn’t do Crib Goch in anything but perfect weather.

  5. Unfortunately this happens every year, and is only going to continue. People taking on routes that they’re not experienced enough or equipped for. Very dangerous route in even good conditions.

  6. If you just want to get to the top easily go the Llanberis route. I’ve done the Goch in summer and winter, it’s not that bad if you’re confident and experienced. If not choose a different route or search out a guide, bound to be a few who’ll take you up and down safely👍

  7. People were reporting this on Saturday on UK hiking who had either witnessed it or been on the ridge at the same time.
