   Tarifftino did say: “We were at our richest from 1870 to 1913.” Nothing says 1870s like coal power, tariffs and robber barons..

5. This article is absolutely adorable in its disregard for the policies that Texas put into place to try to promote renuable energy sources that led to their grid blowing up. Texas power problems have not suddenly been brought on by some recent policy decisions by Trump, they have been in the works for years because of failed state policies trying to promote renuables.

   Texas and ERCOT put in place a series of incentives to promote renuable energy production for their grid. These policies provided that as wind and solar generation ramped up, power prices would go down. Backed by massive government subsidies, more solar and wind was built in Texas.

   This created two major related problems. First is that wind and solar generation is variable and unreliable based upon weather conditions. This requires that fossil fuel generation be available as a backup capacity if wind and solar production weakens. However, the increased installation of heavily subsidized wind and solar ment that average power prices made maintaining fossil fueled buffer capacity uneconomic. It simply did not make sense to keep these other plants available for emergency operations.

   The increase in building out wind and solar capacity made the grid intrinsically unstable, and the pricing structure that subsidies for wind and solar production made keeping backup capacity available uneconomic. The entire Texas system became unstable because of bad decisions driven by the desire to virtue signal.

   The primaries is the most important election phase during any election, people should finally understand and act on that knowledge.
