While Prince William and Kate Middleton continue to enjoy life at Windsor, Buckingham Palace is undergoing a renovation worth $463 million.
King Charles III will stay at Clarence House during the project, while Prince Edward and Princess Anne will reside elsewhere during the project. Despite the costly update, the Prince of Wales is reportedly expected to remain at Windsor even once he becomes king.
People reported that insiders refer to Buckingham Palace as “monarch HQ,” but the renovation process won’t be complete until 2027.
Since the process will take time, Prince William could change up his home base.
“The Wales family will move house later this year,” a spokesperson at Kensington Palace told People.
Not only will Prince William and Kate Middleton settle into Forest Lodge, but the couple will pay rent to the Crown Estate, per the BBC.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have always wanted to create a sense of normalcy for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Kate’s parents, Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton, live just 30 minutes away from the Waleses’ Berkshire home and have an active role in their grandchildren’s lives.
