MANILA, Philippines — Olympian Toni Leviste, an esteemed figure in Filipino equestrian circles, recently achieved a milestone that punctuates her remarkable career spanning over 35 years. 

By clinching victory at the FEI Prix St. Georges Class during the Flemalle Concours de Dressage National in Belgium, she not only garnered a prestigious title but also marked a significant first for the Philippines by winning an international dressage event. 

This accomplishment was celebrated back home where she received a symbolic plaque of recognition, underscoring her contribution to the sport and her country’s international sporting representation.

Leviste’s victory goes beyond personal achievement; it highlights her relentless dedication and passion for equestrian sports. Her success has earned her a spot at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games scheduled to take place in Thailand in December, providing her with yet another platform to showcase her skills and represent the Philippines on a significant stage.

Her sentiments upon receiving recognition resonate with a profound sense of national pride and responsibility, as she acknowledges the honor of representing over 110 million Filipinos on the global stage.

The presentation of the plaque, which took place at the historical Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, saw Leviste being honored by figures like PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio and Philippine Olympic Committee President Bambol Tolentino.

Significantly, her father, former Batangas Governor Jose Antonio Leviste, who has been a constant source of support throughout her career, joined her during this emblematic moment.

Toni Leviste’s journey in equestrian sports is marked by several notable achievements, which include her participation in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, making her the first Filipino equestrian to compete in the games. 

Additionally, her career is decorated with a silver medal from the 2002 Busan Asian Games, participations in two World Championships, experiences at the FEI World Finals, and a collection of medals from numerous SEA Games appearances.
