The money will just not be there until he’s gone for good.
By the time Americans done building those Nukes, they will have to bankrupt the plants because ain’t no one is paying 5-10 times the price for that nrg.
So our tax money goes to make our electric bills higher. The effect a policy has is usually the reason for its existence.
Joe Romm .. what rock has this idiot been hiding under?
What could possibly go wrong?
Wonder how he’s profiting on this nut job decision.
I’m likely going to be modded as a troll, but no one is going to convince me that his and his administration’s objective isn’t to destroy America and kill people.
Donald Trump should have just campaigned on the promise of multiple cataclysmic black swan events during and because of his administration.
Nuclear is expensive, dirty, controlled by a cartel. Checks out that this is Trump priority.
No, the power hungry data centers are raising everyone’s energy prices.
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
Still more foolishness from the low-information dummy:
* **Reliance on Imports:** The U.S. currently relies heavily on imports for its uranium needs, with roughly 99% of the uranium concentrate used in its reactors coming from foreign sources. Canada, Australia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are the primary suppliers. This dependence exposes the U.S. to geopolitical risks and price volatility.
* **Declining Domestic Production:** Domestic uranium production peaked in 1980 and has seen a significant decline since then. While there has been a recent uptick in production in 2024, it still represents a tiny fraction of the nation’s needs.
* **Enrichment Capacity Gap:** The U.S. has insufficient uranium enrichment capacity for its domestic needs, possessing only one operating enrichment plant, Urenco, which can supply about a third of current requirements. The U.S. once led the world in enrichment capacity, but this changed after the “Megatons to Megawatts” agreement with Russia, which led to an oversupply of enriched uranium and the closure of domestic plants.
* **HALEU Supply Challenge:** Developing advanced reactors, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), requires High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU), which is enriched to a higher level than standard reactor fuel. The U.S. currently lacks commercial-scale production of HALEU and is reliant on Russia and China for this crucial component.
But don’t put up wind turbines I mean windmills. A bird might see it and fly the wrong way when it migrates
Investment in energy LOWERS energy prices! Supply and demand ffs?! That’s why private capital will never invest enough (in energy production or real estatae for that matter, why invest so much that it reduces the return on your previous investment?). Only the state has an interest in lower energy prices and rents, because it frees up spending for taxation…
obviously Rolling Stone magazine is the expert here
Lies
Four-year renter. These won’t pour so much as a pound of concrete before he’s out of office.
But he’ll increase corporate profits!!!! Isn’t that what you voted for???? No? Huh, cuz that’s what he and his backers wanted.
Why?
Still waiting on the release of the Epstein files – not even fancy trillion figures can distract from that.
What does he care? He may not live to the end of this term anyway.
Oh, great, now he wants to get involved with nuclear science.
Because everyone else he’s put in charge of things has done such a bang-up job…
Too bad all the people who invented free energy have disappeared
