August the 20th, 2025 – All inclusive holidays have become as popular in Croatia as they have around the world over more recent years. One all inclusive resort on Brač is making quite the name for itself.

Many tourists appreciate simplicity. Their meals, drinks and most of the content at their chosen resorts are already included in the initial price they paid, which allows for complete relaxation when they’re there. That’s why Croatian tourists adore trips to Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia and other destinations where they pay once and never have to look at the insides of their wallets again.

On the stunning island of Brač, in the immediate vicinity of the globally famous Zlatni rat (Golden horn) beach, the beautiful Bretanide Sport & Wellness Resort stands out. It’s a fantastic hotel that combines a Mediterranean atmosphere with a rich offer of sports and wellness facilities. Much like in other hotels of a similar type, guests don’t have to think about organising any of their meals during their stay. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a buffet-style every single day, and there’s also a pizzeria and theme nights in a traditional Dalmatian tavern to enjoy. Local non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are also included in the initial price, which further emphasises the practicality of the “all-inclusive” concept.

“The resort opens each year on the last weekend in April and the season lasts until mid-October. When the weather is bad, we always find some activities for our guests, entertainment and organised excursions so that the destination is not just sun and sea,” revealed Karin Dubravčić from the Bretanide Resort, emphasising that there are more and more supporters of the all-inclusive concept in Croatian tourism.

Families with children especially love and appreciate this because they can save money and can relax without having to open their wallets repeatedly, and the feeling of an actual holiday is provided, even with kids. The all inclusive concept was initially developed in Turkey, Cuba, the Dominican Republic. The offer differs from hotel to hotel, some offer an all-inclusive breakfast with juices, and some absolutely everything, from additional meals in restaurants where it’s up to the guest to say what they want and where a simple bracelet on their wrist is enough.

“At Bretanide, absolutely everything is included in the price, we have a complete all-inclusive offer, but you can additionally order something exclusive if someone wants to drink French cognac or dine on Brač lamb and can pay extra for it.

We’re mostly visited by tourists from the German-speaking area because we’re under the big roof of the Austrian tour operator Gruber Reisein from Graz, which has two charters linked to Brač Airport from May to October. About 35 percent of our guests are Austrians, the same number are Germans, and the rest come from direct bookings from Scandinavia, Slovakia, Luxembourg, but increasingly from across Croatia,” said Dubravčić, emphasising that the hotel has a long history. Built in 1985, it is jokingly referred to as “a well-groomed lady in her prime”, though its name is Bretanide, which was supposedly some kind of strange horned animal that once lived on the island of Brač.

It is located only two hundred metres from Zlatni rat beach, one of the most famous beaches in the entire Adriatic. The very centre of Bol is about eight hundred metres away, a pleasant walk by the sea. In addition to enjoying the resort and the beach, guests can also explore the natural and cultural sights of the island of Brač – such as Vidova gora, the highest peak of the Adriatic islands, or the Blaca hermitage monastery, hidden within the harsh rock. The Bretanide Sport & Wellness Resort is a great example of how an all inclusive offer in Croatia can satisfy different guest profiles – from families with children, to sports enthusiasts, to couples who want to combine luxury and relaxation. Located in one of the most attractive destinations in the entire Adriatic, this hotel offers an experience in which hot summer days are filled with sport, relaxation and the scent of the sea and rich Mediterranean pine. They jokingly say that love is pain, and Pain (which is what the word Bol rather amusingly translates to in English) is right there on Brač!

The resort is family-friendly, with children’s and teens clubs, children’s pools and a fun entertainment programme that runs throughout the day. Parents can enjoy their relaxation knowing that their children are occupied with activities appropriate to their age and well taken care of.

Bretanide also offers a wide range of sports activities: from tennis courts and guided bike tours to Nordic walking, beach volleyball and fitness programmes. In the evenings, guests can enjoy music, shows and dance evenings on the hotel terrace. It’s precisely this combination of sport and entertainment that makes the hotel so attractive to guests who want to spend their holidays actively.

For those who want to relax, there is a 600 square metre wellness area to enjoy. Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam bath, a whirlpool and various massage and beauty treatments all provide a peaceful retreat and some care for the skin after a day spent under the hot Dalmatian sun.
