  1. i’m so sure he spends a lot of time at the museum. Is there record of his last visit?

  2. Trump has zero empathy, he can only imagine being the enslaver, and that seems good to him.

  3. “slammed”, if you don’t mean physically, don’t put it like this. “slammed” makes it sound like there was even an inkling of consequences.

  4. This is the Republican Party no one should be surprised that this is what they think.

  5. Trump “slammed”? Slammed by who exactly. Once again he does outrageous shit and nobody does anything about it. I don’t understand why every democrat or independent politician is not out there doing what Gavin Newsome is doing. Its like they want to watch this fire burn and hope when its over they’ll still be standing and oh yea we get fewer brown people in the country that we ring our hands over while thinking this is good.

  6. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any good points about slavery!
No hots, crap cot? Your children taken from you and sold by some money grabbing owner(sic)…….cant think why anyone wouldn’t enjoy a life in bondage!
Absolutely disgusting way to treat a human being

  7. “Slammed” by the people who already detest him is not enough. We elected this clod twice and he’s a force of destruction in every way.

  8. They would rape slave girls and when those children had their babies, they would sell their own children into slavery.

This is the depravity of MAGA.

  9. The pedophile trying to distract. Release the Epstein files!

  10. They should do a huge exhibit on the history of pedophiles

  11. The Smithsonian focuses on the entire history of America, the good, the bad and the ugly. A president does not have authority over museums. Unless, of course, he’s one those nazi dudes.

  12. Trump isn’t ever slammed for anything and that’s the fucking problem.

  13. I’m gonna be so pissed if the Smithsonian or *any* museum whitewashes the history of this country! Fu** federal funding if that’s what it’s about – they’ll have it all restored when this Administration falls!!

  14. Are we moving away from the “slavery is bad” narrative?

  15. Slavery was bad, and it’s a part of our nation’s history. Trump is a fool. And can a POTUS just unilaterally decide what goes into any museum?

  16. So is he proposing Smithsonian feature child kidnapping?

  17. Don’t let him move the narrative off the Epstein Files!

  18. It’s sad how desensitized I am … when will this nightmare end

  19. I’m really sick of white people trying to sell slavery as a good time for us black people. If it was so good, can we return the favor of enrichment and enslave white people?

People don’t realize that being kidnapped from your ancestral lands, being sold to other humans who say you aren’t humans and being abused for free labor all while your slave owner creeps into your shack and SAs your significant other might cause some generational trauma.

They also fail to see that their colonialism has decimated so many cultures so bad that we are now permanently linked with them through oppression. To this day White people continue to run most of the world but still act like they are the victims in a violent past that they pretty much manufactured all by themselves.

I don’t hate white people but I’m really tired of white people hating us and calling us uncivilized yet they perpetrated some of the most heinous crimes including the newest phenomenon of mass shootings. Why is it so hard for them to see that our pain is actually bad and we aren’t rehashing slavery to kill the vibe. Unfortunately white Americans of the past made this our shared experience. It has become how we connect to our past because that’s as far back as it goes for many of us. I can’t track my ancestors past slavery because of colonialism. So yes slavery was bad and yes we should learn about it just like Germans learn about the Nazis. Instead of Germans trying to erase the past they meet it and they try to make amends. America on the other hand sweeps its bloody history under the rug and tries to act like things were always good. It’s preposterous, and look at us now. Battling the same fascism, racism and classism we faced within the modern era. Even slavery is back but now it comes in the flavor of capitalism as wage slavery. Even our favorite Republicans are trying to take rights from women and children. We are repeating because the ruling class refuses to admit that their riches may have come from systemic benefits and old money gained of the predation of poorer American citizens.

In season 3 of Atlanta there is a really great episode about reparations. One day a woman wins an important case that awards her reparations. It causes a rash of cases demanding reparations of white folks who benefited from slavery. The protagonist of the episode is a white man running from his obligation to pay his reparations. He fight and fight and fight to get away but ultimately fails. The story has a good ending though. He comes to terms with the fact that it’s wrong to run from responsibility and it shows him working a job and a few white folks raise their hands to offer a small percentage of their wages to the reparations fund. And he walks around and greets his co-workers from all different cultures to serve food to a restaurant full of diverse people and it shows that at last the curse was lifted. The man accepted his ancestor’s role in the atrocities of the past and yea he had to give a little money but ultimately he was finally invited to the cookout with everyone else. The past is hard but we need to reflect on it so we don’t go back, we need reflect on it so we can chart a course forward that is beneficial for all.

    Rant over 😑

  20. And modern republicans will still deny that the party shift ever happened.

  21. I recently took a tour of the Manzanar National Historic Site and like the Smithsonian you don’t come away with that impression, yes you’re left flabbergasted by how horrific it was and how government can justify immorality, but they just tell a story that is not only supported by facts but the actually environment in which these atrocities happened. You can still feel the isolation, deprivation, and injustice there as it’s a tangible thing. What Trump really hates is this undeniably truth which history makes harder for him to rewrite and MAGAwash over.
