Caitlin Clark has suffered yet another injury, and her fans are growing tired.

The Indiana Fever All-Star guard has been out since she suffered a groin injury during a July 15 win over the Connecticut Sun. Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has been making progress in her return from injury. However, reports out of Indianapolis on Wednesday afternoon, August 20, revealed that Clark has actually suffered another injury. Clark, who is averaging 16.5 points and 8.8 assists per game this year, while shooting 41.7 percent from the field, might be more hobbled than we think.

Clark has reportedly added an ankle injury to her growing list of ailments.

Caitlin Clark suffered a bruised ankle on August 7, Scott Agness of FieldhouseFiles.com reports. The ankle injury is believed to be “mild.”

It will reportedly not impact her return to the court. However, a return date has not yet been set.

“Clark, who has been working her way back from a right groin injury, tweaked her left ankle during a workout session, Fieldhouse Files has learned. It happened near the very end, adding to the frustration,” he reported.

Caitlin Clark fans are frustrated

Clark, one of the most popular players in the league and the most important player on the Indiana Fever roster – they’re 8-5 with her on the floor but 10-11 with her off of it – doesn’t appear to be that close to returning to the floor.

Fever head coach Stephanie White was asked by reporters this week if Clark is going to return this season. Her response didn’t exactly leave fans optimistic.

“That’s the hope,” White said. “The hope is that she’s back.”

Clark has now been out for more than a month. It’s been 35 days, to be exact. Many of Clark’s fans have taken to social media to proclaim that they are “done” – for now, anyway.

“I’m done. Going to wait until we get something concrete but as of now my thoughts are she isn’t returning. If she does, it will be a pleasant surprise. I really would love to go to Indy for a playoff game,” Ken Swift, a die-hard Caitlin Clark fan with 10,000 followers, shared on X.

Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg, another major Clark fan, added similar thoughts on his show on Wednesday.

“What changed?” Lundberg said, referring to how Clark is now just “hopeful” to return.

“Bottom line is: We need to know a little bit more…it’s fair for fans to wonder if the league and Fever’s biggest star is going to return this season.”

Clark’s return date had initially been pinpointed as August 26 against the Seattle Storm. However, the Fever have since said that they’re simply taking things day-by-day. It’s unclear at this point when – or if – she’ll be back.

The clock is ticking for Clark, as only three weeks remain in the 2025 WNBA regular season. The Fever’s final game of the regular season is set for Sept. 9.

Will Clark make it back for that?
