A royal expert has weighed in on the possible fate of the royals, suggesting they’re currently “on ice”, but the next in line to the throne could have his own plans for them when he ascends

King Charles is reportedly keeping Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice “on ice”, with their roles being left to the discretion of Prince William, according to a Royal expert.

Ingrid Seward, a royal author and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, has spoken about the potential future for the royal siblings once the Prince of Wales takes the throne from his father, King Charles.

This speculation arises amidst various controversies surrounding their father, Prince Andrew, whose position within the Royal Family is currently in limbo. His troubles include an alleged connection with Jeffrey Epstein, ties with an alleged Chinese spy, and a dispute over the use of Royal Lodge.

Despite these issues, commentator Hilary Fordwich described Prince Andrew’s situation as “beyond bleak” during a conversation with Fox News.

However, Ingrid suggests that the outlook for his daughters may be more positive, seeing them as possible “valuable assets” to Prince William upon his accession.

While Eugenie and Beatrice are not active in carrying out official royal engagements, they have been known to “step up” in other capacities, such as attending garden parties and engaging in charity work. Ingrid believes that they could take on “more” responsibilities in the future.

Speaking to Hello!, she said: “I think they would be open to doing more because they like to give back. They have always been close to William, and the King is very fond of them too.

“Having slimmed down the monarchy, I don’t think he will change his mind, so I think he will leave it to William to bring them into the fold. I think they’re being kept on ice.”

Ingrid reckons they might take up responsibilities similar to those held by Princess Alexandra and the Duchess of Kent in their youth, engaging “very hard” in philanthropic activities but “not taking centre stage.”

Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy, is a cousin to Queen Elizabeth II, born to Prince George, Duke of Kent, whereas Katharine, Duchess of Kent, hails from the family of Sir William Worsley, 4th Baronet, and Joyce Morgan Brunner.

Meanwhile, a royal insider seems to endorse the view that non-working royals Eugenie and Beatrice (who aren’t funded by the taxpayers) might assume a more significant role within the Royal Household going forward.

Royal commentator Richard Eden suggests their status “may change in time” after the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their Royal roles in 2020.

He wrote in the Mail: “Although Prince William still believes in a ‘slimmed-down monarchy’, he is increasingly aware of the hard work of his extended family,’ a courtier tells me.”

Additionally, reflecting on their charitable passion, Eugenie shared with The Telegraph how her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, instilled in her the belief that “giving back to others is the most important thing in life”. She went on to say: “Bea and I feel very strongly about this.”
