The Greco-Roman 130 kg qualification rounds are set to begin August 23 at 2 a.m. CT and will run through the semifinals. Repechage rounds and medal matches will be held on August 24, set to begin at 8:15 a.m. CT.
“We are very proud for Shilo, as he has put together a fantastic summer of training and competing in preparation for this event,” said NDSU wrestling head coach Obenson Blanc. “He is the best U20 heavyweight at this style in the United States, but he isn’t satisfied. This is the mentally that we preach to our guys, so it is great to see it come to fruition for Shilo.”
Jones qualified for the World Championships and earned the opportunity to represent Team USA after winning the U20 Greco-Roman World Team Trials at the Spire Academy in late May, defeating Trayvn Boger in a best-of-three championship series. Jones qualified for the World Team Trials after claiming the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open Championships held in Las Vegas in late April.
“We are thankful to donors and supporters who have made this opportunity possible for Shilo and the rest of our student-athletes who have world and Olympic aspirations while perusing a great education at NDSU,” added Blanc.
After claiming the World Team Trials and qualifying for the World Championships, Jones also claimed the U20 Pan-American Championship in preparation for the trip to Bulgaria. Jones won the Pan-American Championship with three technical superiority decisions and a fall, allowing just one point from the opposition.
