Finally have a weekend off that I didn’t have to book off myself. My girlfriend and I are heading to the local food festival which starts today. Plenty of grub and booze, then back home probably late afternoon because we’re both in our 40s. Magic.
My dad is coming round to help us build an Arbour. (Fancy bench with a roof). Looking forward to it!
Fucking shit cooler weather. Bring the heat back.
Waiting for the butchers to drop off some meaty goodies at our local Premier shop, need a fry up.
Got made redundant yesterday 😭 So it will be job hunting and walking the mutts. It’s a very small company but the boss couldn’t even be bothered to tell me himself or message.
We’ve just bought a house and our wedding is in under a month. Absolutely shite timing.
Happy Saturday!
I’m glad it’s the long weekend (well for some of us!) Going to go for a run soon to kickstart the day. I’m a fan of the cool weather, I wish we had a heatwave again.
Then after I’m back from my run, have my smoothie, freshen up, chores and admin.
Rest of the day, I’m going to stay in, listen to a podcast, self paced studying and do some gaming. I’ll watch a film this evening but not sure yet.
Best friends coming for first visit to my new home, lunch at a very highly-rated local Italian, then I expect it will be drinks either at a bar by the beach or in my garden, loads of chat and laughter.
I’m off to Kingston Uni to see their Archive of Retro Computing exhibition, which is running until Thursday.
(Full disclosure – I’m actually the schmuck who organised and is running it, but it’s not factually inaccurate to say I’m off to see today, and every day until Thursday!)
My husband retired yesterday so we were on the champagne! Today I’m going to marinade a spatchcock chicken and roast it later. Saves me having to cook for the rest of the long weekend.
I’ve cut back on booze (special occasions only), so I’m weirdly fresh and spritely this morning. Might take the kids to a farm but also cautious it’s summer holidays and also bank holiday so it might be rammed.
Long walk in a bit with my sister from one garden centre. Coffee at another and food shop, may pop into a local brewery and a farm shop too.
Just been for an early-ish bike ride. Forgot my house key so now sat on the front step waiting for someone to wake up!
To the allotment!
I’ve traveled to Ely today; lovely city. Going to do Oliver Cromwell (Lord Protector) house, any other recommendations or where is good for lunch

Packing up the motor home we live in and off to the next stop after a great week visiting our son.
DIY today with putting up new blinds in the bedroom to replace the really quite sun bleached heavy curtains I’ve had for donkeys years.
Also dying a pair of suede shoes from tan to dark brown/near black
Off to the Binfield Heath Flower Show. I’m going to have a go on a tractor and get a slice of cake. Maybe enter the dog into the Prettiest Bitch competition? Can’t bloody wait.
I’m doing a whole lot of not going to work today. Been waiting since Monday for it to
Hopefully doing very little today. Need to take my daughters to the library so they can get some new books for our holiday next week and then an afternoon watching and listening to football games.
Lazy day before going to then Arsenal later. Leeds fans always give us a hard time 😵💫😵💫
Hoping to just chill today. Gotta get the shopping this morning but nothing else planned after that. I would like to reclaim back some of my house from the carnage of summer holidays 😅

Building the home allotment this weekend! Greenhouse, 2 raised beds, wildflower patch, fruit trees and a seating area with a pond
Chill until this afternoon when I need to take my car to the garage for some repairs, that will hopefully mean she passes her MOT with flying colours 🤞
Just managed to get my baby down for a nap after a false start that could have ruined the day for both of us! That will give me time for a hot coffee and a nice sit down.
Later I’ll go and join my husband to work on some house renovations in the hope of moving back in at some time soon – we’ve been living with my in-laws for a year now which is exactly as fun as you would imagine with a newborn baby.
Chinese takeaway for dinner as a reward
Started the day at 4am as the wonderful dog decided to shout at foxes in the garden. Which is of course reasonable, and he absolutely saved us from their nefarious vulpine plans.
Then at a slightly more reasonable 7am we had a lovely hour long walk along the banks of the river Stour, with plenty of dog splashing. Saw swans, egrets, and a kingfisher. Superbly relaxing and chill.
Now had fried egg sandwiches for breakfast and am settling in for a day of computer games, crap TV, and (maybe if I can be arsed) some gentle gardening.
Perfect day!
Still in bed.
I got a trail cam for my birthday, I stalled it yesterday. It’s caught a hedgehog and a fox overnight, absolutely thrilled.
Ran 8km this morning which is my longest yet, and did it faster than planned. Pretty chuffed. Going to look at some cars for the kiddo shortly, then I reckon it’s a lazy afternoon in the pub.
