AGERPRES special corespondent, Cristian Lupascu, reports: The Republic of Moldova and Romania support each other and are building together a secure and prosperous European future, declared Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Saturday, at the end of a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

According to the leader from Chisinau, the discussions with the head of the Government from Bucharest focused on topics related to the energy security of the Republic of Moldova, the development of road infrastructure, but also commercial or cultural exchanges between the two states.

‘Today (ed. – Saturday), in Chisinau, with the Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, we discussed energy interconnections that make us stronger, bridges and roads that bring people from both banks of the Prut closer, reducing waiting times at the border and increasingly dynamic trade and cultural exchanges. Everything we achieve together – from energy and infrastructure, to investments and jobs – means more stability, more opportunities, and for the Republic of Moldova, concrete steps towards membership in the European Union,’ said President Maia Sandu.

Ilie Bolojan paid his first official foreign visit as Prime Minister to the Republic of Moldova on Saturday. He met with his counterpart Dorin Recean and participated in the ‘National Treasure’ Festival in Horesti, Ialoveni district. Bolojan also participated in a meeting with the residents of Bardar village.AGERPRES (RO – writing by: Marius Fratila; EN – writing by: Catalin Cristian Trandafir)
