August the 25th, 2025 – Polish tourists arriving in Rijeka by train from Warsaw were taken aback with the warm welcome they received in the northern Adriatic city.

As Morski writes, last week, a train carrying Polish tourists from Warsaw arrived at the Rijeka railway station. They were warmly welcomed by local police officers, a police officer of the State Border and Cross-Border Crime Service, the coordinator for the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department in the Safe Tourist Destination project, together with a group of Polish police officers who are currently working for the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department as part of the Safe Tourist Destination project.

Delighted and surprised by the warm welcome, the Polish tourists disembarking from the train in Rijeka immediately felt welcome. They were given informative leaflets with all kinds of practical advice on safe behaviour during their stay in the Kvarner city, from traffic and safety on the local beaches to important emergency service contact numbers should they require them.

The Safe Tourist Destination project has otherwise been contributing to the safety of foreign visitors for 20 years, and is part of a broader cooperation in the field of tourism safety and exchange of experiences with police services from the European Union (EU).

Poland is one of the countries that plays an important role in this very commendable project, given the large number of Polish nationals who come and spend their holidays on the Croatian coast each and every year.

This meeting once again showcased just how important a common concern for safety is across the board, as well as how hospitality and a sense of feeling welcome contribute to making guests feel comfortable and carefree during their stay in Croatia, regardless of where they come from.
