Icelanders and foreign visitors can expect unsettled weather over the coming days, with rain, shifting winds, and mild temperatures across much of the country, the Icelandic Met Office reports.
Monday will bring easterly winds ranging from 5 to 10 m/s, increasing to 10–15 m/s along the south coast. Rain is forecast in many parts, although North Iceland is likely to remain mostly dry. Temperatures are expected to stay between 13°C and 22°C, with the north enjoying the warmest weather.
All Kinds Of Rain
By Tuesday, the easterly wind will strengthen, reaching 13–18 m/s in southern areas. Intermittent rain will fall across much of the country, but conditions should remain drier north of the central highlands. Temperatures will hover between 12°C and 20°C.
Wednesday will see similar winds, with rain expected in the southeast. Elsewhere, skies will be clearer, though brief afternoon showers are possible. Eastern coastal regions may feel cooler, with highs between 11°C and 20°C.
Looking further ahead, Thursday and Friday will feature light winds and occasional light rain, keeping the mild weather pattern going. Saturday may see northeasterly winds bringing rain or drizzle, with showers in the west and a noticeable dip in temperatures.
