The National Development Council (NDC) yesterday called for closer Taiwan-Japan collaboration in innovation and supply chain integration to foster mutual growth.
The appeal was made at the two-day Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit in Tokyo, where NDC Minister Paul Liu (劉鏡清) led a delegation of 45 Taiwanese companies, the council said in a statement.
Since its launch in 2022, the summit has connected more than 100 Taiwanese start-ups with hundreds of Japanese companies, venture capital firms and financial institutions, helping them expand overseas and enhance their brand visibility, it said.

While Taiwanese industries have achieved many “world firsts” in the past, they must now draw on innovation and entrepreneurship to reach new heights, Liu said at the event’s opening yesterday.
To support this effort, the council has been rolling out measures for start-ups, including competitions to attract investment, comprehensive training programs to raise success rates and assistance with entering global markets.
This year’s summit is focusing on four main themes: corporate venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, deep tech and international corporate collaboration.
Discussions on venture capital and mergers and acquisitions are expected to enhance links between the two countries’ capital markets, while deep technology and cross-border cooperation could spark new partnerships, the council said.
The summit, organized by the NDC in partnership with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan External Trade Organization, is being held at Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel through today.
