Sainsburys today, first time I've seen this. They've started security tagging the Sirloins, so I'm assuming quite a few were walking out the door quite possibly.

Still though, bit shocking to have your dinner de'tagged before leaving the store, bad enough with booze. Times we live in I guess, sad.

  1. Yep. Almost every beef product in my local Tesco is tagged. Price is ridiculous though. £15 for a bit of silverside that would barely do 3 people. Was half the price not so long ago.

  2. I used to work in Sainsbury’s years ago as a student on the meat and fish counter in Ballymena. Somewhere between me bagging a whole salmon for a man (reduced to something like £5)and him walking out the door, he managed to stuff it in his coat and down the sleeve. Needless to say he didn’t get away with it.

  3. I was in a Co Op last week and they had just been robbed of a pile of steaks. Some girl came in grabbed them and booted off down the road.

  4. This has been happening for years. I remember getting steaks from Tesco with security tags on them in 2016 or so.

  5. Sainsburys after tax profits last year were around £240m. Up over £100m on the previous year.

  6. Is this Sainsbury’s in the Kennedy Centre by any chance?

  7. Go to your butcher for meat, better quality & lower prices

  8. But who buys the stolen meats?

I mean pinching one to feed yourself I can see, but whenever someone nicks a trolley load, that’s not going in your freezer at home.

It’s as bad as the big cheeses in the security box.

  9. I saw a junky picking up a load of steaks. I though how nice he must be having a barbecue, No he was stealing them.

  10. Meat is getting seriously pricy. And in some areas supermarkets are being robbed blind and we all end up paying the price. Cos sure as shit the shareholders ain’t.
