The Iranian defense minister has extolled the country’s cutting-edge military capabilities in the 12-day war of aggression by the United States and Israel, saying the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces penetrated the occupying regime’s multi-layered defense systems and destroyed many of its targets with their advanced missiles.
Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh made the statement on Tuesday as he elaborated on the achievements of the Iranian defense industry and the country’s military prowess manifested in the US-Israeli onslaught.
“In the recent sacred and national defense, the Armed Forces, utilizing the achievements of advanced defense industries, were able to successfully penetrate the multi-layered and sophisticated air defense of the Zionist regime, which was supported by other Western governments and the United States, through offensive operations, and managed to destroy many of their military targets with missiles that are the achievements of scientists in the defense sector,” Nasirzadeh said.
Iran’s defense minister also praised the Armed Forces’ spirit of self-reliance and focus on knowledge, continuous innovation, and new technologies within the framework of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s directives to maintain and enhance their readiness to counter the enemy threats.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the terrorist aggression.
Iran needs strong army to fight off threats: Cmdr.
Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami on Wednesday said Iran should have a powerful army to safeguard the nation, adding that the country has no choice but to grow stronger in the current circumstances.
Stressing that there is no alternative but to become strong and powerful, Hatami said, “We need a powerful Army to protect our nation; a strong Army is the one whose every sector fulfills its missions and duties in the right way.”
The top commander highlighted the Army’s crucial role in safeguarding Iran’s independence, territorial integrity, and the Islamic Republic’s system, saying, “This mission is important to every country, but in Iran, due to our strategic and geopolitical position, it is even more significant.”
Denouncing the Israeli atrocities, he warned that the region is home to “an occupying and child-killing regime” whose doctrine insists that no country should be stronger than the illegal entity.
Referring to the 12-day war imposed on Iran, the commander stated that while the officials were negotiating the Islamic Republic’s peaceful nuclear program, the country was attacked by the Israeli regime and the US in violation of the international norms and human rights principles.
