New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from Finnish President Alexander Stubb on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

President Stubb shared his assessment of recent meetings between European, US and Ukrainian leaders in Washington on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for a peaceful resolution and the early restoration of peace and stability.

The two leaders also reviewed progress in the India-Finland partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in emerging sectors including quantum technologies, 6G, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and sustainability.

According to the MEA, President Stubb reiterated Finland’s support for the early conclusion of a mutually beneficial India-EU Free Trade Agreement and expressed backing for the AI Impact Summit to be hosted by India in 2026.

Prime Minister Modi invited President Stubb to visit India soon, with both leaders agreeing to remain in touch.

Reflecting on the talks, PM Modi posted on X that Finland is a valued EU partner and stressed cooperation in trade, technology and sustainability. President Stubb, in his post, underlined the importance of a just and lasting solution to the Ukraine war and praised India’s respected role globally.
