Children from war-torn Ukraine once again found a safe haven in Croatia this summer through the action plan “Slavonian Heart for Ukrainian Families”, organised by the Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in cooperation with Osijek-Baranja County.
The young guests first spent time in Osijek, visiting the Zoo, the Shell Museum, and taking part in creative workshops themed around the sea. They were welcomed by Deputy Prefect Goran Ivanović and Centre director Tomislav Ramljak, who stressed the importance of giving children a sense of safety and warmth.
The program continued in Novi Vinodolski, where activities included boat trips, visits to an aquarium, sports, beach games, and workshops such as bracelet making and painting stones. With the help of the Red Cross, children also learned first aid and water safety.
“This program gives children from crisis areas a rare chance to laugh, play, and feel secure again. Every child deserves that,” said Ramljak.
The initiative highlights Croatia’s role in offering solidarity and humanity to those most in need.
