Romania’s largest gastronomic festival is raising the bar in 2025 by hosting some of the most acclaimed names in international cuisine. From September 4–7, the hilltop of Boros Holiday Village in Lunca de Jos will be transformed into a spectacular celebration of flavors, traditions, and culinary innovation.

World-renowned chefs at Taste of Transylvania

For the first time, the festival stage will feature some of the world’s most celebrated chefs. Among them is Ana Roš, the Slovenian chef of Hiša Franko (holder of three Michelin stars and one green star), named World’s Best Female Chef in 2017 and awarded again at The Best Chef Awards 2024. Joining her will be Alessandro Ingiulla, the youngest Italian Michelin-starred chef from Sapio restaurant in Sicily, as well as Iñaki Bolumburu, a nomadic Basque chef who collaborates with several Michelin-starred restaurants and currently oversees the kitchen of Āmalur in Bangkok.

“Having Ana Roš with us is both an honor and a powerful signal for the region. She comes from Slovenia, a country that held the title of European Region of Gastronomy—a title that Harghita County will carry in 2027. It’s an extraordinary opportunity to learn from her experience and vision,” said Trucza Adorján, founder of Taste of Transylvania.

The power of Romanian and international gastronomy

Romania will be represented by leading chefs such as Alex Petricean (NOUA), Mihai Toader (Soro Lume), Oana Coantă (Bistro de l’Arte), and Cezar Munteanu, who will coordinate the stand of the National Association of Chefs and Confectioners of Romania (ANBCT).

Hungary will be present with prestigious restaurants like Bábel and Costes Downtown, both Michelin-starred, as well as the legendary Gerbeaud café in Budapest. A standout appearance will be Mészáros Ádám, the only Hungarian chef awarded two Michelin stars, who will cook live for the public at the Páva restaurant stand in Odorheiu Secuiesc.

Unique experiences for visitors

The festival promises a program full of surprises. Kongó Farm will bring an authentic sheepfold to Lunca de Jos, offering visitors a glimpse into mountain life and traditional gastronomy. A giant cauldron will also be installed, where different chefs will prepare surprise dishes every day. Children will enjoy a dedicated play and learning area, while panorama lovers can savor the views from the hilltop at the Vigneron Champagne Bar, featuring premium champagnes. To ensure real-time sharing, satellite internet will be available throughout the event.

Music, fun, and spectacular prizes

Beyond the culinary highlights, the festival will feature live concerts by IRIS, Don’t Stop The Queen, Tárkány Művek, and Bogdan Simion, adding rhythm and energy to the weekend.

One of the most anticipated moments is the community potato harvest, taking place Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Hidden among the potatoes will be prizes worth a total of €10,000. Lucky participants may win anything from a large multifunctional grill to lifetime passes to Taste of Transylvania or exclusive experiences at Carassia Winery.

The full festival program and list of participating restaurants can be found at tasteoftransylvania.eu. Tickets are available in advance at bilete.ro/taste-of-transylvania. Admission is free for children under 14, and on Thursday, September 4, entrance will be free for all visitors.
