When it comes to admissions, let’s admit this is happening

  1. My wife works in enrollment at the University of Phoenix. They changed a bit of the language that they use on the more public facing parts of their site, but their leadership has made it clear that their policies and values haven’t changed and they still consider diversity and equality to be core principles of the university. While I don’t have a direct source for any other universities, I’d imagine a lot of them have done similar due to how liberal colleges tend to lean.

  2. University admissions should be blind for fairness. No mention of race or gender or names, just submitted grades and essays to be judged on academic merit. It’s crazy to me that legacy admissions even exist.

  3. It’s all wide open, lol. It don’t matter if they don’t have the classroom space or dorm space.

  4. I worked at a private, prestigious university and they refused legacy admissions. They refused one family that offered $2 million for their unqualified kid to get in.

The Dean of admissions told me that he could admit Richie Rich, who couldn’t compete with the rest of the fairly admitted students, but the Dean couldn’t get the faculty to give the dummy a passing grade. When the kid flunked out he would have a very wealthy family who were mad at the university and demanded their millions back.

I know that’s not how all universities work, but I worked for that university and three public universities who also never admitted legacy students. They all bent over backward to give disadvantaged students a hand.

In fact for several of the Ivy League universities, if you come from a family without money but have good grades, SAT scores, etc. they will give you a full ride. Looking at you Harvard.

  5. 600,000 Chinese student visas have been approved.

  6. Why is the bloke only who is getting the bulletin proof vest?

  7. It’s amazing how equality itself has become the ultimate political boogeyman.
