In Moldova, the gas supply system will change starting in September. Moldovagaz and Energocom have signed a seven-month agreement, under which the latter will supply natural gas to end consumers from September 1, 2025.
During the transitional period, Moldovagaz will continue to handle billing and customer service tasks. The aim is to ensure that consumer convenience and service quality are maintained. Current tariffs will remain in effect until the energy regulatory authority (ANRE) approves new regulated prices.
The change follows ANRE’s decision to require the legal and operational separation of gas supply and transportation activities. Since the previous supplier, Moldovagaz, which is majority-owned by Gazprom, was unable to meet this requirement, it lost its licence at the end of July, and the public supply responsibilities were transferred to the state-owned Energocom. However, Moldovagaz remained the supplier for the Transnistrian region.
