  1. Submission Statement: The United States is considering a plan to occupy and repair Gaza over the course of a decade. The plan includes 5000 USD for each Gazaan to live off of in exchange for rights to rebuild and redevelop the territory. The population will be held either in refugee camps inside the territory or outside the territory. The end goal is to turn Gaza into a regional manufacturing hub. the Trump Admin declined to comment when asked about the plan.

  2. So what about sovereignty ?? That’s what this whole issue is about

  3. IMO: This plan is about the best that can reasonably be hoped for. Like it or not, Gaza never had the economy to repair itself after the war, and temporary occupation by a foreign power is preferable to Israeli ethnic cleansing or warlords controlling the region. I don’t see any other option that would actually see Gaza recover from this in less time. From a moral perspective, it is, of course, less preferable to Gaza being run by its own people in a free and fair system, but that ideal world isn’t the one we live in. So we are left to pick the best of the bad options

  4. This will need to be a united effort on all ends of the spectrum. I’d like to see Egypt and Jordan involved in the mix. It is in their interests and Israel’s to make sure that a Hamas insurgency is suppressed and the PA is strong-armed so that we can finally come to a resolution here.

The reconstruction plan that Egypt put forward seems very promising. I am not sure if that is the direction that Trump had in mind. He seemed to be signaling towards the process of ethnic cleansing and building beach properties for himself.

  5. Hard pass, that sounds like another nation building nightmare. Why on earth would DJT of all people go for that, its a bad deal.

  6. I can’t see the US actually doing this, especially not for 10 years. As soon as US troops get hit by a suicide bomber we’ll leave. It isn’t a US war, and very few Americans feel like we’ve any responsibility to Gaza. Especially on the heels of Iraq and Afghanistan, this will be very unpopular.

The truth is no one but Israel wants to do anything about Gaza. The rest of us will happily commentate from afar about how poorly they’re doing, but no one wants to spend blood and treasure on behalf of the Palestinians. At least no one that isn’t also interested in killing Israelis.

This probably is a plan Palestinian activists should try to get behind though, at least some version of it. Their options are foreign occupation or Israeli occupation—there’s no going back to the status before 10/7, and Israel isn’t going to allow a Palestinian state under these circumstances. Smart money is to take the lesser of evils at thus point.

  7. It’s so not practical. The plan itself isn’t intrinsically bad. The idea of helping rebuild Gaza is good but the US can’t do it alone. The Arab world, Israel, and Europe would all have to work together. However all that’ll happen is Hamas will start shooting at American troops.

  8. This must be exactly what Trump suppers were voting for.

  9. Wow. I am amazed that it manages to combine concentration camps, land stealing, and cryptocurrency in one plan. I want to wait for more details but I have a hard time picturing they will just come in with a smile, pour thousands into reconstruction, and then hand that land back to the owner no strings attached.

  10. Because it worked so well in Afghanistan and Iraq it will definitely work out well in Gaza!
