Sloviansk Drone Attack Destroys Family Home, Urgent Support Needed

As reported by the online media Suspilne.

Late at night on September 2, the city of Sloviansk came under attack from two Geran-2 type unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the drones hit a private house; the family survived but lost their home and their beloved dog.

According to residents, the UAV’s hum was clearly noticeable a few seconds before the strike. Dmytro recalls: he heard it literally just before the explosion.

“I managed to push my wife off the bed – and immediately the blast. The ceiling collapsed, I was buried headfirst. I crawled out, shouting: ‘Are you alive?’ – and she replied: ‘The wardrobe pinned me.’ She wriggled through. Through the door she ran out. I shouted: ‘Go to the basement,’ – says the man.

After the strike, the house caught fire, but thanks to the coordinated actions of the family and caring neighbors they managed to survive; however the dog stayed close to the owners in the hardest moments and supported them in coping with the aftermath of the disaster.

Now the family needs support: the roof needs to be repaired, a minimal supply of essential items must be provided, and assistance is needed to return to a stable life after the destruction.
