OMNIASIG, Asirom, BCR Asigurări de Viață and Carpathia Pensii, member companies of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) in Romania, have joined forces in a joint social responsibility initiative, with the aim of providing concrete support to the Romanian education system.
Together with the PlaYouth Association, the companies involved have completely renovated the Secondary School No. 1 in the village of Grădinari, Giurgiu County, a large volunteer project dedicated to children who learn in difficult conditions but who deserve a better future.
A project with real impact for education and the community
The project aimed to make schools safer, cleaner and more welcoming, giving students the chance to learn in an environment that respects their potential. Through this endeavor, the companies involved aimed to:
Provide a dignified educational environment for students;
Encourage community involvement around the values of education;
Mobilize employees as active volunteers with a direct and positive impact on society.
Around 250 volunteers from the four companies participated in the renovation action, contributing to:
Refurbishment of 5 classrooms, 2 laboratories, a recreation room, the chancellery, the secretariat and the director’s office;
Renovation of outside bathrooms and common areas;
Improving the school yard and playgrounds.
“This initiative is about solidarity, responsibility and hope. We are glad that we have been able to contribute, through the direct involvement of our colleagues, to creating a better learning space. We strongly believe that education needs constant support. Volunteering is not just an altruistic gesture, but an integrated part of our organizational culture and the way we understand how to develop sustainably. We are glad that this action has given us the opportunity to contribute directly to the support of education through the concrete involvement of our colleagues in the community. Through such initiatives, we are reconfirming our commitment to building a more equitable and supportive society alongside our people.” said Mihai Tecău, Chairman of the OMNIASIG Board of Directors.
“We wanted to make a real difference in the life of the community of Grădinari. This action is an expression of our core values – cooperation, collaboration and communication – and proof that, together, we can build more than just insurance products: we can build the future,” said Mădălin Roșu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asirom.
The entire Asirom board actively participated in the renovations, underlining the company’s commitment to its promise: Asirom will renovate one school per year, supporting education and local communities.
“For the Vienna Insurance Group, of which Asirom is a part, community involvement is a priority. We are an international group, but actions such as the one in Grădinari show that we are united by the same values and that every volunteer can make a difference,” added Paul Zarzără, Vice President of the Asirom Board of Directors.
Financial education and community support remain central pillars of Asirom’s social responsibility strategy, and the Grădinari project is another step in the direction of the promise made to society. The project was made possible with the support of PlaYouth Association, an NGO with experience in running CSR and education projects.
