De Wever: "Use energy now for your own problems"

Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) briefly reviewed the Gaza debate on "Goeiemorgen morgen!" (Radio 2). Yesterday, an agreement was reached on the measures the Flemish and federal governments will take.

De Wever and the Jewish community have also been in contact. "I will visit the Jewish community to explain," the Prime Minister said.

"I think everyone realizes that the extremists in the Israeli government are going too far." Two Israeli far-right ministers have been banned from entering our country.

De Wever: "The debate was conducted in moral terms, and that really bothered me. Geopolitics can be tough sometimes, and nobody wants that war. But you shouldn't pretend that your position is morally superior to someone else's."

The focus is shifting again. "We can now focus our energy on the problems in our own country," says De Wever.

  2. Ja, ik kan mij inbeelden dat Bart liever met economische termen het debat had gevoerd. Dan was de keuze veel makkelijker.

    But of course you are 100% wrong, because the position of fascists will never be equal as the one of anti-fascists. The position of militarists will never be equal to the one of the pacifists. The position of the killers/genocides will never be equal to the position of the ones that defend human rights. The position of the sexists cannot be equal to the one of the feminists. The position of the racists never would be equal to the one of the anti-racists.

    Yes, there are positions that are morally superior, otherwise you just try to defend that Martin Luther King is equal to Hitler.

Wil dat zeggen dat als joodse gemeenschap=Israel, dat die joodse gemeenschap dan een legitiem doelwit is in geval van conflict? Gaat Bart het ook uitleggen aan de palestijnse gemeenschap in België?

  23. Voor zover ik het tussen de lijnen kan lezen zegt hij dat het politiek populistisch gespeeld is geweest, en dat dat niet hoort tussen coalitiepartners. Mahdi begon nogal snel coalitiepartners met de rug tegen de muur te duwen door moraliteit als wapen te gebruiken in een wat populistisch spel. Uiteindelijk moet er ook gewoon gewerkt kunnen worden: deals gemaakt aan tafel zonder de populatie op het hitsen.
