A new geopolitical spy thriller, ‘Tehran’ is fast becoming a great success on Netflix. The film starring John Abraham, who has won great fandom for the personally played stunts in the film, is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Maddox Films who have previously made the successful films Chhava, Mimi and Stree. Other producers include Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell.

Starring John Abraham, Manushi Chhillar, Neeru Bajwa, and Madhurima Tuli, ‘Tehran’ is the story of India’s Special Officer Rajeev Kumar investigating a bombing in Delhi and uncovering a complex conspiracy involving the three countries of India, Iran and Israel, according to a press release from Sterling Global.

Inspired by the 2012 bombing of the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi, ‘Tehran’ features some real life incidents of that event. Directed by debut filmmaker Arun Gopalan, the film’s story revolves around the themes of justice and patriotism.

Abraham especially trained in Hebrew pronunciations and speech rhythms for his dialogues from former Chelsea Football Club coach Avram Grant, according to the press release. Abraham has already been praised for his performance in the immediate reviews of ‘Tehran’, adding one more political thriller to his acting basket, along with his recent successful portrayals in Madras Café and The Diplomat.

The press release quotes Abraham speaking about his role, saying that the audience response from around the world proves bold cinema is the choice as it ignites conversation and connects with people on a real, intense, and thought-provoking level.

First time Director Gopalan has been quoted saying that ‘Tehran’ centers on the issue of trust, extending the story internationally, while being rooted in India.
