  1. Looks like it. According to the arrows on the side, that printing is on the bottom of the box.

  2. Not enough information to say they will be damaged in this orientation, but the side with that print should be on the bottom. You can see the arrows on the right side showing direction of up.

  3. Looks like it, they should be stood up with that text on the bottom looking at the side labels. Broken glass within.

  4. I cant think of something more confusing to do to a delivery person who doesn’t speak English as their first language.

You have also got to love to utter naivety of the person who thought ‘this will stop anyone’

  5. Whatever the answer, if a product being in a specific orientation during shipping will result in damage (especially where it potentially needs to have its narrowest side facing down), it has not been adequately packaged to ship.

  6. No, they are the incorrect way up, it’s even written on the box!

  7. It’s completely clear; if you are reading this, it’s the wrong way up. The problem is, in all human history, the default message is ‘Right Way Up’, so you end up just looking at this confused and leaving it the wrong way up because you don’t believe it.

  8. I bought a couple of garden recliners from Dunelm this summer and they also had this on their boxes. I couldn’t understand how just storing it on the side would cause damage but I guess that in the warehouse with multiple boxes stacked that way it would be different. These are definitely stored incorrectly but whether that will make them damaged I’m not sure.

  9. Bad psychology- you are best off wording it in the positive than the negative. “This Way Up” will likely have better results than “Not This Way Up”.

  10. Well if someone doesnt/cant read they will just see the letters are the correct way up and walk off, it’s bad design

  11. Based on the way people drive in Swindon, especially around where that Dunelm is – this is unsurprising

  12. Exactly the same in the Broadstairs branch. That was the beginning of last week.

  13. This is horrendous design. I read it 3x before realising the issue. Somebody in a hurry to stack boxes and meet targets is gonna glance “writing is the right way up” must be good. What’s wrong with a good old fashioned arrow?

  14. No its on its side, the “Incorrect way up” would be better saying “This side down” Here it looks moer like they dropped them off from the trolley and left them, putting them the right way would take time and effort. While stored on the pallet this is likely how they came shipped as its more stable and stackable.

When it comes to delivery its likely they want it delivered in the proper orientation, but “this side down” would likely be the better wording, and have the delivery label on the “up” side, as they will typically deliver with whatever side has the label upwards so they can scan it after dropping it.
