Boy escapes home to eat breakfast at nearby Chick-fil-A, video shows

We arrived on scene. Hello. Hello. And as we walked in, we see a little kid sitting at the table eating his breakfast with one of the managers. Hey, buddy. Oh, look at that. We asked where he came from, and he kept saying he walked to Chick-fil-A. You know where your house is, right, honey? Um, it’s right across the street right over there. Okay, cool. You going to show us where you live? Yeah. Okay, we gathered him up. Look at that. Say thank you. There’s California. I walked him to the back of my patrol car. Are you going to get me in jail? No, I’m not going to put you in jail. And we started checking here. All right, buddy. Where’s your house at? Is it right here? None of these doors are open. None of these garages are open. I don’t live in a duck pond. So then he explained that he had a white fence. That’s where it is. Right here. Uh and then we realized that the call box wasn’t working. We had no way to get through the gate. How about this? My initial thoughts were, I can’t believe he came out of here. It’s the most secure house on that block in reference to having a fence all the way around, front, back, sides. Le morning. Hey, good morning. Hey, do you have a son named Lee? William. Yeah. A little boy. Yeah. Yeah. He was down at the Chick-fil-A. Are you kidding me? No, we have him in our police car. You want to come get? You could just see the look on his face. It would be for any parent, including myself. It’s disbelief. We came out. Do you have any idea how he got out? Yeah, he just got unlocked the front door, but he’s never done that. Did you get scared? Why did you go to Chick-fil-A? He said he opened the gate and couldn’t find Joe and went down the street. I know he knows how to get to Chick-fil-A cuz we walked there. I would have never expected him to come down here on his own in the morning before anybody else in the house was up.

  2. this is exactly why police should be given more money

    because stuff like this happens and if the police men and women who are serving are dealing with the stresses of life and the field

    it can cause issues but when things are calm like as we seen in the video and i think this is very very very important for communityies and kids to trust police like this this makes me happy and full of joy

  3. My son did the same thing when he was 4. Snuck out and went to the deli!

    Police were a little less understanding!

  6. Ill never forget when my step brother was like 6 he wanted to go see his dad but his dad was in Georgia. So this dude snuck out the house and literally walked onto the highway and was just walking down the side if the highway. When the cops came they asked him what he was doing and he said he was gonna walk to the airport to go see his dad. And what makes this even funnier to me is he was walking the complete opposite direction of the airport 😂😂

  9. At least there was a happy ending. I was expecting his parents to be horrible people or something, but no. Just normal parents dealing with silly kid shenanigans. Honestly, it's pretty reliving compared to other stories out there.

  20. We would walk to school in the mornings that was two blocks when we were that young 6 and 7, and nothing happened to us. We knew not to go off with strangers or take anything from them.

  25. CPS needs to be called! It’s not funny. It’s not cute. It’s irresponsible and neglectful and the parents need to be charged.

  28. I saw a similar video, where a young black mother in her early 20's had basically same thing happen…..

    Cops arrested her.
    I wonder why the white couple arrested? WTF
