NFL Week 1: Schedule, inactives, news, live updates for early games as Aaron Rodgers makes Steelers debut vs. Jets

Week 1 of the 2025 NFL regular season has finally arrived and after kicking things off with games on Thursday and Friday night, the first Sunday slate of the year should be interesting. Headlining the early afternoon games, we have Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to MetLife Stadium for a showdown with the New York Jets. Rodgers should be hellbent on showing his former team he’s still got a little something left in the tank.

Other prime matchups include Tampa Bay going to Atlanta for a divisional clash featuring Baker Mayfield and Michael Penix Jr. In another division battle, it’s Cincinnati at Cleveland, and after all the headlines for the Browns over the summer, it’s finally time to get on the field when it counts.

Also on the early slate, we’ll see Miami at Indianapolis, Las Vegas at New England, Arizona at New Orleans, Carolina at Jacksonville, and New York [Giants] at Washington.

A couple of notables from those games will be Geno Smith making his regular-season debut as the Raiders’ QB alongside Pete Carroll, who also coached him in Seattle. In New Orleans, it’s a new day with Kellen Moore now running the show as head coach of the Saints. All eyes will be on the Commanders and second-year QB, Jayden Daniels, to see if he can avoid the dreaded sophomore slump after winning Rookie of the Year and leading Washington to its first NFC title game in more than three decades.
